Mission 1.0

soviet mission 01Objective: A pitiful excuse for resistance has blockaded itself in this village. Stalin has decided to make an example of them. Kill them all and destroy their homes. You will have Yak aircraft to use in teaching these rebels a lesson.

Strategy: Use the yaks to destroy as many barrels as you can. They have a cascading effect so it should take you a small number of sorties to destroy the village. Use your paratroopers to destroy buildings that are not destroyed by the exploding barrels.

Mission 2.1 Mission 2.2 / DOS mission 2

soviet mission 02Objective: Tomorrow, the attack on Germany begins, but today, we must protect our facility from Allied attacks. Keep the Command Centre intact at all costs, and destroy any Allied fortification you might find.

Strategy: (mission 2.1) Build an ore refinery, a barracks and place a few flame towers where the enemy can come in. You don't have to put one to the east near the bridge because you can blow the barrels to destroy the bridge and then the enemy will not be able to cross there. You can finish the mission without building the yaks and I think that you get more points for economy if you do but I built them and used them to take out the rocket soldiers and to blow up the barrels in the enemy base. Build grenadiers to take out the turrets and rifle infantry to take out the enemy infantry. After taking out the turrets, the base should be easy to destroy.

Mission 3.0 / DOS mission 3

soviet mission 03Objective: An Allied spy has bypassed our security, damaged our base, and is now seeking to escape. Use your attack dogs to track him down and exterminate him. The civilians are aiding the spy and will have set traps for your men. If the spy escapes you, your life is forfeit.

Strategy: The dogs attack better in packs, so group them together and attack the little village to the Southeast of where the mission starts. This will liberate a few grenadiers and rifle soldiers who are being held prisoners. Move those troops south of the village and blow up the barrels near the pillbox. The spy will start to move again when the pillbox is destroyed. Now advance your troops to follow the spy. He will move south from the pillbox, then head west, board a transport and go north. Keep your dogs a tad behind and use the troops to engage the enemy troops. If you move fast enough, you will be able to use an attack dog to tear the spy apart.

Mission 4.1 Mission 4.2 / DOS mission 4

soviet mission 04Objective: The Allied base in this region is proving to be problematic. Your mission is to take it out so that we can begin to move forces through this area. As long as they have communications they will be able to call upon heavy reinforcements. Crush their communications, and they should be easier to remove.

Strategy (mission 4.1): You land in the middle of a skirmish. Don't pursue the retreating enemy. Instead establish your base where you are. There are about four ore fields to your west but there are two to your east. Concentrate on the fields on the east. Build two ore refineries right away, a barracks, a war factory and then build two more ore trucks. That should be enough. Build a few flame towers to protect your base from attacks from the north and from the east (the direction of those fields I mentioned earlier. Build a radar dome and service depot as soon as you can and send a spy plane to the Northwest corner of the map. Once you find the enemy's radar dome, send some paratroopers and take it out. That is the first stage of your mission. Once the radar dome is out, I built about 10 airfields and their respective yaks and kept sending them on sorties to destroy the enemy's ore refineries. Once you stop his finances, send a few V2 rockets and a big group of heavy tanks to protect them. Take out any pillboxes and turrets from afar with the V2s and kill any tanks that come to destroy the V2s with your heavy tanks. Once the defences are down, just send the tanks in and finish the job.

Mission 5.0 / DOS mission 5

soviet mission 05Objective: Khalkis island contains a large quantity of ore that we need. The Allies re well aware of our plans, and intend to establish their own base there. See to it that they fail, in addition, capture their radar centre so we can track Allied activity in this area.

Strategy: Build your construction yard as soon as the game starts. Build heavy tanks and rifle soldiers. Go north and destroy the enemy's only ore truck on this island. Keep building tanks and when ready head east and take over base. Remember, don't destroy the radar dome but just pummel it enough to get an engineer in and take over it. The enemy might start shooting it once it is yours. It is not necessary to defend it.

Build sub pens and build about six subs and a transport. You are going to clear a path for transport with your subs. But before you load the transport up and invade the island, build about 12 yaks and destroy the construction yard and the two ore refineries on the middle island. Next destroy all rocket soldiers in the island and then destroy all slow moving vehicles. Try to get all enemy vehicles to go to the opposite end of the island from where you intend to land your tanks in. These gives you time to prepare and not have to deal with all the enemy vehicles in the island. Naturally, the faster moving ones will reach your tanks and they should be easy to dispense with. Basically, land your MCV and let the tanks defend the repelling force.

Mission 6.1 Mission 6.2 / DOS mission 6

soviet mission 06Objective: There is special cargo that needs to be transported to a nearby Soviet base in the northeast. Make sure the trucks reach their destination intact. Along the way, there is a bridge which the Allies may have destroyed. If so, use the Naval options at your disposal. Our attack subs will make short work of any Allied boats you discover.

Strategy (mission 6.1): Go west and establish your base to the north of the ore field. The next field you should mine is directly west and north of you. Build heavy tanks and repel the puny attacks that the enemy sends. When you have a formidable force, send the tanks north and destroy the base. You might want to take over the war factory, barracks, naval yard and construction yard so that you gain the Allied technology. Build the sub pen now and build 7 subs and send them to destroy all the boats, especially the cruisers. Once this is done, you can send the trucks north and then east.

Mission 7.0 / DOS mission 7

soviet mission 07Objective: The Allies have infiltrated one of our nuclear reactors! They have tampered with the core so that a meltdown is imminent within 30 minutes. They must not succeed! Enter the base and find any remaining technicians. Guide them to the 4 coolant stations so they can activate them, then activate the main computer. The security systems have been armed so beware. Kill any Allies you find.

Strategy: Quickly select your rifle soldiers and move them to their left and down. This will get them out of harm's way. Send them south and the enemy troops will pursue. Go a little south of the last barrel and blow it. This should destroy the pursuing troops.

Mission 8.1 Mission 8.2 not available / DOS mission 8

soviet mission 08Objective: We have detected Allied activity on Elbe Island. The Allies plan to use this island to stage an attack on the Soviet Empire. You must ensure that the island ceases to be under Allied control. Destroy all Allied units on and around island. The local population has been aiding the Allies as well. There is only one punishment for helping the enemy - Death.

Strategy (mission 8.1): Build the existing sub pen and build about 6 subs. Disregard any ships you encounter and send the subs all the way around the island to the north of the island where the enemy builds it's naval yard. Keep the subs there and keep destroying it throughout the mission. Build two ore refineries and a war factory and quickly build two more ore trucks. There are two major ore deposits: one to your west and a larger one to your north. I started on the one to the west because it is closer but watch out for tank attacks. You might want to protect your base by building a few Tesla Coils (build a tech centre first). There is a small brown base to your north on the second bridge to your left. You might want to capture it's construction yard and build a few allied buildings and vehicles. In the meantime, build lots of heavy tanks. When you have a big force, say fifteen or more tanks, send them north and take out blue enemy's ore trucks. Then go into the blue base on the Northwest tip of the island and destroy everything. By this time, the enemy will not build any more naval yards and you can have your subs go after the ships around the island.

Mission 9.0 / DOS mission 9

soviet mission 09Objective: The Allied forces have intercepted and destroyed a convoy that carried part for our secret weapon. One truck remains, but they have captured that last truck and it's cargo. This is not acceptable! You are to destroy that truck before the Allies leave the area with it.

Strategy: This was a weird one. There are plenty of ore fields Southwest of your base and you can concentrate there. I built up a bunch of tanks and captured the enemy's war factory on the centre of the map. I quickly built two Tesla Coils and three SAM sites to fend off helicopters. I did not do much in regards to the original base's defence. The enemy never seemed interested enough to come and attack the original base but they sure wanted to destroy the centre one. Build up a big force of heavy tanks and go to the bridge north of your original base. Fight the first battle there. Next, turn Northeast and cross the bridge. Destroy the two helicopters, power plant and ore refinery there. Now, you can attack the main base to the west. Once I destroyed the gap generator, the mission was won.

Mission 10.0 / DOS mission 10

soviet mission 10Objective: You must defend a Soviet convoy that is moving through Allied occupied territory. Using the new MIG jet and a complement of Yaks, get the convoy through the area intact. Be careful - your resources for the mission are very limited, if at least one truck makes it through to the other side, the mission will be a success.

Strategy: The truck convoy will be following one of the four tanks at the beginning of this mission. Figure which one it is and assign him to a key. Don't use him to attack because this might move the trucks into harm's way. Use the other three to take out turrets and anti-air guns. Make use of the barrels that the enemy has carelessly stored so close to his weaponry and personnel. Once you knock down the anti-air guns and boats, use the MIGs and yaks to help you destroy or damage buildings. For some reason, there are two counters in this mission. The first one starts when you are able to see the small base on the middle of the map. Careful, there are two gunboats in the north and south lakes. Damage the construction yard and have an engineer take control of it. Send another engineer to repair it and sell it. This will give you more money to buy more MIGs and/or yaks to replace the ones destroyed in battle. Destroy the gunboat on the south lake and take the road going west south of the small middle base and aim for the barrels on the next ridge to your west. This should destroy two turrets, the other two have to be destroyed with the tanks and/or with two aerial attacks. Next, take the turrets on the north ridge of the previous ridge (one aerial attack should do it if you aim for the barrels. Now, just follow the path and make your truck-lead tank go to the edge of the screen. This should conclude the mission.

Mission 11.1 Mission 11.2 / DOS mission 11

soviet mission 11Objective: Intelligence indicates that a large portion of the Allied Naval Fleet will stop for refuelling at a base in this area. Destroy the fleet and the base. Beware the long range of their cruiser.

Strategy (mission 11.1): Your enemy is on another island, but he will send transports with vehicles and soldiers after you. Build two sub pens as soon as possible. One on the northern shore of your island and another on the south end. Build a small sub force to destroy transports and cruisers the enemy will send to you. Also build some Tesla Coils facing the beaches where the enemy might land to defend your base. At the same time, build a couple of transports. Use them to transport a force of V2 rockets to the island to your Northeast. DO NOT USE THE BRIDGES because the cruiser will destroy them as you are crossing. The whole Northeast corner of the map is inaccessible to your subs so you have to invade the enemy's island located to your north. To do this, build a substantial force of mammoth tanks. The enemy might be able to repel your first wave but keep landing the tanks and you will start winning more skirmishes. With a force of ten mammoth tanks, you should be able to wipe out the entire island and destroy all naval yards. Be careful to destroy everything. The least visible structures are camouflage pillboxes near trees. I missed three and the mission would not end.

Mission 12.0 / DOS mission 12

soviet mission 12Objective: We have learned the location of the Chronosphere weapon, and we want to capture it. The Allies have boobytrapped the Chronosphere to explode if approached. Capturing the tech centres BEFORE taking the Chronosphere may allow you to defuse any traps. Use extreme caution.

Strategy: Quickly destroy all turrets and tanks. Place MCV right where you stand. Quickly build two ore refineries, an advanced power plant and a war factory. Build two additional ore trucks. Now concentrate in building mammoth tanks and a sub pen. The sub pen might be destroyed two or three times so quickly build subs to kill off the destroyers and cruisers which do the most damage to the sub pen. You can ignore the gunboats because they don't do as much damage.

Meanwhile, have another five to ten mammoth tanks take control of the fields south of your base. Destroy the enemy's two ore trucks and that will slow him down. There is a tech centre on the Southwest corner of the map. Capture it and you will have the GPS satellite.

Once you have the area around the sub pen secured. Build a couple of transports. With a force of about six subs go south and then east. Destroy any ships you encounter and destroy the naval yard. This beach is where you will land ten mammoth tanks to wipe out the enemy base's defences. Now capture the construction yard and you can destroy the rest of the buildings. This will enable you to build six destroyers. Have them circle the middle island destroying all troops, turrets, pillboxes, power plants and tanks; especially around the tech centres. Train five engineers, land them and capture a tech centre. Once you capture one, a five-minute timer will start. You have to capture the other two in that time. Repair the captured tech and build a barracks beside it. Train five engineers per tech centre. The mission ends when you capture the last tech centre.

Mission 13.1 Mission 13.1 / DOS mission 13

soviet mission 13Objective: We have another chance to capture the Chronosphere. Take out the Radar Domes to cut the link between them and the Chronosphere. Then capture it!

Strategy (mission 13.1): From your landing point, go north and establish your base there. Build one ore refinery, then a war factory and quickly build one more ore truck. Have one of them go for the gems so you can build more wealth quicker. Quickly build your base defences after that. A couple Tesla Coils protected by a three or more SAMs on the Southwest tip of your base will fend off most of the enemy vehicles. But to your south there is a beach and some enemy transports will land their cargo at that point. Build a sub pen (we will call it sub pen A) there and build six subs and a transport there. Also on the Northeast corner of the map, build another sub pen (which we will call sub pen B). Also build six subs and a transport from sub pen A. Send them to go to the Northwest corner of the map and destroy the bridge so they can cross. Beware for there are some gunboats and cruisers on the other side. Destroy them and the naval yard. From sub pen B, send your subs south and destroy all ships and naval yards you encounter. By this time, you should have to move onto the centre of the tank because your ore trucks should be looking for new ore deposits. For this build several mammoth tanks. I personally like capturing construction yards so I can build allied vehicles and personnel. Besides, if the building is worth more than 500 or the engineer's cost to train, it's cheaper if you bring the building status to red and then send an engineer to capture it than to destroy it and have to build it from scratch. Systematically knock down power plants so the gap generators will have no energy to run on. Also take out the AA guns so you can send air attacks. This mission is not hard, just takes a long time. DO NOT send a vehicle or soldier near the Southwest corner where the Chronosphere is or it will detonate. You MUST destroy or capture ALL radar domes before you proceed to that area of the map. Use both transports to send vehicles to the land inaccessible portions of the map (one of which you created by blowing up the bridge).

Mission 14.0 / DOS mission 14

soviet mission 14Objective: Your final test is at hand. The destiny of the Soviet union rests on the shores of England. Here lies the final resting place of the Allies pitiful resistance. Crush them and attain your place at the right hand of Stalin.

Strategy: I did this scenario counter-clockwise but I think it should be easier if you go around the map clock-wise. This scenario starts with a lot of money but it will not last forever. Your forces land near the Southeast corner of the map. They are being bombarded heavily and constantly. Assign all your tanks to a key and quickly deploy your MCV where it stands. Use a standard build of one power plant, one ore refinery, war factory and an advance power plant. As soon as you have the war factory built, build another ore truck. Your mainstay vehicle for this mission should be the mammoth tank. But you will also need to build plenty subs to sink the enemy's gunboats, destroyers and cruisers. Build the sub pen near your construction yard. Build a sizeable force of subs and a couple of scout subs to uncover the terrain.

As soon as you can, build about three Tesla Coils surrounded by SAMs (to protect from Apache attacks) and deploy them near your construction yard. The enemy will try to land forces on this beach but three Tesla Coils will destroy the transport before it drops it's cargo. You will also be attacked from cruisers navigating on the south edge of the map. Keep alert with your subs and destroy those cruisers. Their range is lethal but not very accurate. Also, defend the Southeast tip of the island you are on. The enemy will continually land their troops there and since this is the closest ore field near your base, it will go after your ore trucks. Last but not least, the enemy will continually land forces on the west end of your island. You might want to keep a force of mammoth tanks ready to pound the enemy before it can unload its artillery units. Build Tesla Coils (and SAMs) all around your base. Instead of SAMs, you could use mammoth tanks but I believe the SAMs are more effective than the mammoth's rockets.

There are three enemy construction yards on the map, I like capturing one so that I will have access to all of the Allied's vehicles, weaponry, and troops. If you want to use air power, use the tanks to knock down the enemy's air defences.

Go around the map in a clock-wise fashion. Keep sending your mammoth tanks and subs for repairs. You might need to transport mammoth tanks to the centre island (the last bastion) if both bridges (both located north of your base).

This is not a particularly difficult mission but it is the longest Soviet one.
