There seems to be some people that don't exactly know how to take fully advantage of the
nuclear powers that are available to them. First of all, if you try this out in a skirmish mode game
on easy, you will have some time to try out these tips.
Try out a bomb on open, flat ground, then you will see where the bomb has it's powers. You will
notice that the bomb makes damages direct on the point you have assigned it, then it will make no
damage on the surrounding squares. Then there is a frame of two squares that are damaged. This means
that the bomb has the lowest effect if you put it direct on the structure, but if you place it one
or two squares to the left / right and aligned to the bottom of the structures, you will make the
most damage.
Structures with low armour will almost every time be destroyed, no matter where the attack is
placed. The high armour buildings however is a different story:
Let's
take the Ore Refinery as an example. If you point the bomb to hit one square left / right of the
building, and align it to the bottom square, you will completely destroy it. If there are two Ore
Refineries built side by side, with one square dividing them, you can destroy both in one direct hit
between them. Devastating for you opponent.
As you can see of the last example on the left, the nuclear bomb will not destroy the War Factory
completely, but this is where it will make the most damage. If you can combine the nuke with two or
three choppers, and time it as well... adios War Factory.
It's not a good thing to gang up your Ore Refineries / Power Plants as you can see above. Try to
spread your base as much as possible without compromising on the base defence. But to build your
Power Plants with some structures between them, and to avoid placing two Ore Refineries next to each
other will save you from a lot of trouble later.
Remember, this is not the only position the bomb will destroy the structures, but these points
will guaranteed take them out in one hit. Do you know of any other positions that will have the most
devastating effect?
